Update 2.5 - Excavation Expansion

313 new Expansion upgrades, including Excavation XP Multipliers
- You will be granted free upgrades based on your current progress
- For example, if you had 10/20 on a fossils upgrade, after the update you'll have 25/50. If you had 20/20, you'll have 50/50
New excavation levels added - you will be granted free XP to match your current progress
Infinite upgrades for Gold, Silver, and Excavation XP Multiplier in excavation
New Excavation XP Multiplier bonus stat for crewmates

Buffed crewmate Silver per Second multiplier bonus - only takes effect for newly hired crewmates
Excavation shop prices were adjusted (mostly reduced) due to the shop expansion
Your current fossils currency was adjusted to reflect the updated shop prices
Fishing Speed bonus from excavation clock rewards can no longer be rainbow, as +100x fishing speed caused serious lag and looked weird

I would've recommended this game until very recently. You can make steady progression and you don't need to spend a ton of time on it everyday. Exactly how an idle game should be. I've also almost 100% the game without spending any money.

The problem is that recently the developer messed with the Steam achievements. He had stated that he would no longer add any new Steam achievements. This was nice as people who had 100% the game didn't feel like they had to keep coming back just for achievements.

What the developer ended up doing instead was changing the existing Steam achievements to have much higher requirements. The newest feature in the game that got added was excavation. You dig to find items and boosts to help you in the game. This came with a bunch of new achievements which were the last to be added. I was several days away from getting the last 3 excavation achievements I needed. That's when the developer doubled the requirements for one of them and tripled the requirements of the other two. I went from being a few days away to being months away from finishing them. It was a total slap in the face to me and many others.

Don't say you won't add new achievements and then change a bunch of your achievements to have way longer requirements. That's basically the same thing. I will not be trying to 100% the game anymore. I'm just gonna stop playing.

It was a good game which you play for about 10 minutes each day. You had some goals like 1215 achievements you can work towards. I played it for few years regularly with a total time of about 80h and was close to finishing the list with 1170/1215 but then dev for some reason decided to add new achievements which require another several years of doing the same basic things each day. He was asked not to add more and agreed with that but then increased the requirements of the existing achievements which now require even more time to complete.

Basically he keeps moving the goals so if you plan to play the game with goal completion in mind, avoid it, it's an infinite threadmill. If you don't care about goals then I am not sure what you will want to play for. Just try the game for few hours and drop it because there is nothing new later other than reaching a multitude of goal which keep changing.
