Played this on my Youtube channel recently (link at end of review for anyone interested in seeing a gameplay sample), so here's some thoughts.

I quite enjoyed The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, mainly for its serene vibe and gorgeous visuals (which still hold up today despite the game being quite a few years in age at this point). You play as Paul Prospero, an investigator who has entered Red Creek Valley in search of Ethan Carter. As you explore the map, you gradually unravel the story of what happened to Ethan and his family, and all the twists it entails.

One thing to note: this game doesn't hold your hand. There's no real tutorials; you're thrown in and you have to figure out how to proceed and solve the various puzzles hidden around the map. Some of them are fairly easy; others are more challenging. If I'm not mistaken, solving all these puzzles also means you get the true ending.

So, if you enjoy games that are more of a sedate ride where you get to unravel a mystery at your own pace, and you don't mind games that put you straight in at the deep end, then you might like The Vanishing of Ethan Carter. Though I did find myself looking at a Steam guide for clues on the odd occasion, overall I did enjoy this game and would definitely recommend it.
