Alternative to OpenOffice?
For some reason OpenOffice Calc now refuses to save a file ever again after it's been saved to already so...
anyone know better options for opening the "XML" database files? LibreOffice Calc has no idea what's going on in there, and I refuse to use Excel for a myriad of reasons.

To open the “xml” files for this game, I simply use a text editor... Windows Notepad or Notepad2.

I use Notepad++ for that, but it's a chore since most are still formatted as databases meant for Excel or OpenOffice, with blank cells included so there's 100 miles of useless info that's hard to parse to sift through.

Wasn't OpenOffice discontinued and be replaced with LibreOffice?

yes but notably my copy of LibreOffice can't open XML database files properly for some reason I cannot pin down so, I've been stuck on OpenOffice, which kills files too
