Path of Achra does NOT feature an interesting story, crafting, high-fidelity graphics, memorable characters, choices and consequences or balanced combat like other RPGs. Path of Achra is the RPG experience boiled down to the absolute core. Theorycraft the most insane build you are capable of and kill god. Ascend your DPS towards the mathematical vanishing point until your victory is a forgone conclusion. Chain together effect triggers and summon dozens of worms every turn in an infinite feedback loop. Sacrifice items until your sword deals literally a billion damage. Pray to the angry gods and be rewarded. Lightning shoots from my finger tips. Praise Achra.

Amazing game. It’s a lot of fun being able to mix and match classes and try out different playthroughs.

The only reason I’m giving it a thumbs down is because of my experience in what feels like New Game + (second cycle of degradation). I haven’t won a single run since getting there. Every run goes great until the final stage, where I end up stuck in a tight corner with no room to move, and the boss along with adds just ranges me down every single time. This has now happened about eight runs in a row, and it’s honestly become really boring.

Why introduce tight corridors in every single boss fight? It does not make the game more challenging or enjoyable. It just feels straight up unfair.

Starting off from choosing your initial character, the game throws an overwhelming amount of information at you. The info is so vast, that it puts D & D rules to shame. Personally, I just want to play a game & NOT read a thesaurus of in-game quirks...or at least let me gradually learn them over time. For example, upon starting the game, you can immediately learn 10 skills and there are 100 to choose from; each has a ton of text and didn't feel special from others [i.e. +5 dmg 2-squares away when taking dmg, etc]. In fact, I felt so overwhelmed by the mediocrity of choices, that I didn't choose any.

The game tells you to hold tab / right-click to advance, which is basically the game playing FOR you. You might as well, just leave the game, go get fast food & come back to see if you did anything special when you were gone. --> I mean, what's the point of playing a game, to just not play??? The only thing you do, do (I said doo-doo), is to lvl up and choose equipment. Levelling up is confusing as heck. There's essentially x3 main stats to choose from with ZERO explanation on what the subfeats for those stats do. For ex, DEX increases speed +2, whereas STR increases max speed +1. So, where is your max speed? IDK. It's not anywhere--especially not on the stats page.

I'm confused as to why anybody would play or even make a game like this.

For someone who likes control, this game felt overwhelmingly frustrating: it felt like I got everything thrown at me from the kitchen sink to grandma still washing her hands; I played for 22-minutes, but that was 22-minutes of sheer, frustration of me trying to figure out stuff WITHOUT trying to read an entire 1986 encyclopedia of Achra terms.

Don't play this game, because it's not a game--as in, it's not a tool used for boredom to stimulate fun. It's the opposite: it's a tool used to manufacture BOREDOM.
