Talking about the future and announcing our second title.

Hello everyone,

In this post, we will talk more about what comes next from VI Game Forge after Svarog's Dream.

Our studio roadmap:

The Last Opening – this year. A completely new game. More about it below.
New strategy game – development starts near the end of this year, but we are not ready to reveal much yet.
Svarog's Dream 2 – after the strategy title is released.

Yes, you heard that right. If our health allows it, SD2 is also happening.

When it comes to SD2, so far we only have concepts and ideas on paper, and it may take a few years before we have something concrete. Still, I am confident you will like what we have in mind when the time comes.

We will talk more about it in the future, but first, let's announce our new title:

The Last Opening

It is an RPG where you play as a protagonist facing Death, playing a game of chess with him, where the chess game blends with the reality of the world.

This is not an ARPG, and you will not find much combat in it. However, if you enjoyed our storytelling, worldbuilding, and unique ideas, you may also like what we have prepared there.

We will post all future updates about the new game, along with some general studio news, on that page. So feel free to follow it. It helps more than you might think.

Let's switch back to the world of Svarog's Dream and answer some questions you may have.

Why not work on Svarog's Dream 2 right away?

I know some of you would love that. We worked on the original SD1 for four years, and then another year on the expansion. The game is now complete, and we are happy with where it stands.

That said, making a game is not just about putting in hours. It has to come from passion and inspiration, and for that, we need time to refresh.

There are different ideas I (lead dev) am passionate about that I want to explore before SD2, and those will be reflected in the next two titles we release. I hope you will enjoy what we are preparing.

Any news about Svarog's Dream 1?

Actually, yes. While we don't plan any major content updates, we are planning a mini in-game event in about two months.

What it is remains a secret for now, but we will share more details in our next post.

Questions about death

I was playing on ironman and died. My new character options have like all (or almost all) negative effects on them. My initial options was like 2 positive and 1 negative on each character. is this just random or am I not understanding something? Also, I was looking at the wiki and it says the more you die the more the world is "punished" by removing NPCs (quest givers). Can anyone explain this mechanic? Isn't the death penalty already enough punishment? Why would dying also remove content from the game? S...

I must be missing the point...

Played for 110 minutes and died at least a dozen times. Got tricked by the golden rabbit, which fair enough but felt like a gotcha with no recourse as I was one shot. Managed to trick the ghost into moving away from my corpse to loot it, try again, be more careful. Nope, Ghost hit a nearby Deer, which promptly ran over to me and killed my in two hits...
