Some progress has been made since July.

The minimap is now includes a real-time view of the map (unless pbr is set to false)
Camera animations can now be skipped by pressing esc
Weapon impacts changed to realistic sparks on most maps
Bug fixes

Pretty odd, but pretty cool

'am not sure how i stumbled upon this little game, but i like it. Sure is bare bones, but i like it. 'am not sure what exactly do i enjoy, I think it's a bit of everything and it works well together. It was a very cool little game, kinda reminded me of Peripeteia. Pretty cool ! I wish i could help, but aside of level design, and this ain't a RTS, i've got no skills in fields i can work on to help :( I wish you good luck on your journey !...

I had some free time and I decided to do some work on the games. It's a US holiday, and fireworks are literally going off around me as I write this.

Now (with a little bit of developer effort) the engine is capable of showing 3D animated movies. At present, the game includes two of these animations, including an atmospheric new intro scene. All 2D stills have now been replaced with a 3D camera system, in line with most modern games.

In addition, you can now spend yen on weapons and refills. (Ways to make yen are forthcoming.) As usual, this release also includes small map geometry updates and bug fixes.

Welcome back to another pre-release update. The game has had many incremental updates this year, but I thought this one deserved a little bit more emphasis. The demo and playtest builds feature new stuff that may be of interest:

Voiceover dialogue. The clips are probably not final, but even so...
Zombies make a noise when they see the player.
Small level geometry updates.

In addition to these updates, I have quietly postponed the game's release to the end of the year to give time for more wishlists and the lengthening and bettering of the game. Don't worry, it will release one day. :)

An Oddity

I wanted to give some feedback after playing the demo. The RSOD demo really is something. When you load a new area, the game opens a cmd prompt which promptly closes itself, which struck quite a bit of fear into me. It also forces the game to alt-tab to the cmd prompt so the game pauses every time you enter a new area. The actual game and it's mechanics are rather simple, which isn't necessarily bad. Though there's not much to do in the demo, the city map is rather large and empty, only really having ...

I've spend almost an hour with RSOD.

And really, I am not sure why that long. Maybe it was that simplistic desgin? I really can decide if it is kind of art or some kind of joke. I know, that in fact it is more the tech demo than game but its feel like a game anyway. For a long time I was not so confused. And the music is perfect. I can imagine that adding real storyline without adding more game mechanism can made RSOD viral game despite of its clumsy physic. I am somehow fascinated. Best wishes for the creator.
