Ghostbusters is a game of two halves really. One bad, one good.

On the good side of things, this captures the feel, the vibe, the humour, and the fluff exterior of the film perfectly. It's a superb way of feeling like you're a Ghostbuster and also kind of reliving large parts of the Ghostbuster film. In terms of how it looks, how it sounds, the characters, the banter... it's as Ghostbustery as you get, and for that, it's brilliant. And if that's all that matters to you, which is the case with a lot of so-called gamers, then I recommend this.

However, there's one big key flaw in it, and that's the gameplay. If you're a gameplay man, like myself, this is a lot harder sell.

Now, the ideas behind the gameplay are good, and they've really tried to capture the feeling of being a Ghostbuster again. But it's just often quite boring. Looking around for ghosts and using your PK meter can get dull, but more so, when you're trying to capture the ghosts, wearing their padded health down just isn't very exciting or challenging. It's pretty easy to target the ghosts. It's pretty easy to dodge what they throw at you or rush at you. But most of all, once you've got them in your sights and they're worn down, then just trying to get them in the trap can be dull.

This is a perfect example of how gameplay started to decline in that era. I'm used to playing games like Dodonpachi, where you have a million things to dodge and blast, and everything's snappy, fast, and exciting, and Ghostbusters is a bit cumbersome and pretty limited on that front. So if you're a gameplay person, I wouldn't recommend it.

Might be an older game, but it still is a fun game. Had to disable my triple monitors to play properly, but other than that, game works fine on newer hardware.

Still a great game and technically Ghostbusters 3 in game form. I've bought it three times now. Once on the xbox 360 when I pre-ordered the game, again on the Switch and once more here on Steam. In fact, I also snagged a copy of the game via internet archive before the remaster.

As for changes the remaster made, beyond removing licensed material and the online multi-player there's no changes I can see. But, the bonus is there is a mod community and running something like the Deluxe GBTVG mod from Nexus is fun. I'm still bummed this game never got a proper sequel and they abandoned this format immediately. It wasn't because it didn't work or the game was buggy, just dumb suits being dumb suits.

Though I would have loved the option to enjoy the version released on the Wii.
