Once beta decay reaches Early Access, it is likely that the Devlogs will make their way into Steam as well.

• The Goal of Devlogs are to:

  • Provide high level updates of what game features are being worked on.

  • Share some of the thought process behind the game's objectives.

  • Identify and communicate risks and challenges.

• High Level development updates are available for free to everyone - Which provide enough detail to track the game's progress.

• Donations - Optionally, if you choose to support and donate to the game - The higher Patreon Tiers provide further details into each high level update. More details can found here: Patreon[www.patreon.com].

• Notification - As with all major information, the community is notified via email, discord and Patreon.

A new development Roadmap (Progress Tracker) will be posted for this month of December. Stay tuned!

• beta (-) decay = Features to arrive at Early Access.

• beta (+) decay = Features to arrive throughout and post Early Access.

As the game continues to grow, it becomes more and more critical that every scoped feature is clear and accurately defined to prevent confusion down the road. The defined scope in the roadmap will directly relate to what features to expect for Early Access. So this is very important.

The release date for the roadmap will be communicated via email, discord, and be available on https://rotoscopestudios.com when ready.

• Some Roadmap features will be marked as TBA and their details will be released when ready.

• Overall, keep your eyes open for the roadmap's release as the new Devlog #35 approaches!

• Once all targeted features for Early Access are developed at their core and have gone through proper testing, the decision will be made whether to proceed into Early Access.

  • Therefore, the date for Early Access is a moving target.

• Please keep in mind that any dates that have been previously communicated are estimates and have always been subject to change.

In early 2025 a playtest had been conducted to collect feedback around the game's core movement and combat mechanics.

• This was a very basic build in a Pre-Alpha state that is no longer available.

• You'll find that all of the content spread around on YouTube is from this older build.

Multiplayer had always been a stretch goal for the game since the start, but would only be executed depending on how much support the game received. Surprising to say, people are very interested in the game! Therefore, the decision was made to proceed with multiplayer development throughout 2025.

Due to this decision, every system has been improved and re-worked to function with multiplayer.

Beyond the challenges and learning curves of networking, the changes have introduced much more originality and creativity. Each update has aligned the game more closely with its intended vision.

2025 has been an incredible year of progress and has flown by in a heartbeat. Although each month seems like a rush, I am very excited to showcase all the new features that have been developed, and all the improvements from the legacy build.

• The goal of the Trailer is to showcase a larger set of features through gameplay, infused with moments of cinema.

• There are several features that are still being developed that I plan to showcase, so It will take some time to get everything wrapped up into a presentable video.

The FAQ will continue to be updated where appropriate. If there is a question you would like to see answered, feel free to post it into the Discord Topics channel. I do evaluate them regularly to determine if they are FAQ worthy. 🧐

Goal and Structure

The goal for the discord server is to function similarly to a traditional forum. This approach aims to promote meaningful discussion and reduce spam, more-so than a typical chat. The current structure is very simplistic which consists of the following three channels:

• Welcome

• Media

• Topics - Where discussions may occur.

Why not use a forum?

• A traditional forum used to exist on the Rotoscope Studios homepage. However, it had been removed due to being very clunky, a pain to maintain, and it wasn't very mobile friendly.

• Discord is far more accessible to a wider audience and easier to manage on Desktop and Mobile. The use of discord has also been used to help consolidate and centralize the community.

• The functionality of 'Discord Threads' align just as well to a traditional forum.

Topics Channel

The goal of this channel is to have categorized and searchable topics to encourage users to have more thoughtful discussions rather than quick random/spam posts.

• Chat Functionality - Within threads - The core functionality (chatting), is still the same as it would be in any open general/off-topic channels - Conversations are simply categorized into their own thread.

• Ease of Use - Threads enable searching and categorization of discussions by their overall topic. This also allows better audit tracking for myself.

• Repeat Questions - Threads aim to help alleviate repeat questions that are answered in the FAQ - For users, it takes a bit more effort to create a new threaded topic and ask the question in a spotlight, rather than quickly posting to an open, free-for-all channel.

• First time members - Threaded Topics vastly help set the tone for initial, first time users. Currently, users may choose whatever topics/discussions that suit them upon first joining.

  • Off-Topic discussion currently exists as it's own threaded topic.

• All information in this post is derived from existing communication and information found via FAQ/Website/Patreon posts.

• It has simply been summarized as a news post here on Steam!

• Please be aware that every devlog, image, video, email, chat, news / post / announcement, discord monitoring - takes a significant amount of time.

• A balance is maintained to dedicate time towards the overhead items above and to the game's development.
