I played a lot of adventure games and after seeing the hype and the reviews I was really looking forward to this one as well.

The prologue had me believe the player would have a lot of agency to mess with the story which strongly pulled me into the rest of the game, however everything fell apart for me after chapter 2 once I learned my choices didn't matter.
After I understood the irrelevancy of my choices the rest of the game was fairly easy to predict and this caused everything after the 2nd chapter to feel quite dull and boring.

The story is linear and this feels like a big miss considering how much branching potential it had especially since you're time traveling. I see what they were going for with the ending but it just ended up feeling rushed unfortunately.

The puzzles themselves were okay, most were obvious but some were actually quite fun and engaging. Overall, as adventure games go, they were on the easier side.

The characters themselves are okay and most are decently written but there are some issues you'll figure out if you pay attention.

If you enjoy time travel stories and visual novels you might like the game, but definitely get it when its on sale, otherwise if youre looking for adventure try Gemini Rue, Tehnobabylon, Unavowed, Primordia, Strangeland, The Blackwell series or Kathy Rain...

TL;DR: Prologue had me expecting one thing, rest of the game didn't fulfill the expectations set in the prologue.

"Made for a modern audience"? Sadly yes. Thankfully the main character Fia Quinn is not a girl-boss, but is filled with flaws and doubts, but the narrative keeps hunting for checkmarks and not to offend. It makes the story toothless. We follow a black female boxer back in time to 1871. Are people sexist or racist towards her? No! All is fine. With a timejump-concept like this, It is a huge missed opportunity. Let them be sexist and racist - so we can reflect over their time-based ignorance. That is how you get a better world - and story.
