Just wanna play multiplayer with people, didn't have internet as a kid and wanna see if i can play this games multiplayer game modes now if i can

looking for a group of atleast 6 ofus to do the multiplayer achievements together if anyone is interested

So, I decided to join a match - first since 4 years - and encountered them on the new servers. "YAY! So many people!" I thought those were real players, but a kind player (thanks, Hicks) said they were bots. That's new. So... what is their purpose?

I'm finding lobbies filled with players, only to join and see everyone standing still and not playing. Is this common?
