Good game/ But i find the second half more complicated yet more tense.
Puppet combo is the only developer who actually makes good ps1 styled games.

I got this as part of the Puppet Combo Bundle pack, and it was delightful. The aesthetic was perfect, nailing the lo-fi grimy vibes of an 80s VHS slasher.

In terms of gameplay, the PS1-style tank controls worked very well for puzzles and exploration (nothing was obtuse, yay!). Combat felt a bit more awkward. It's tricky to fight back if the villain gets the drop on you, mainly due to the close-quarters nature of the titular house and the particular camera angle you're working with. That said, these issues were pretty rare in my playthrough, and there is a wonderful ability to center the camera behind you by holding a trigger button.

Worth noting is the game's balance and length. Items are distributed fairly (even the pencils for saving), there's a good amount of hiding spots, and the game lasts exactly as long as it needs to. All killer, no filler.

The last point of appreciation is the game's environment. The house itself is well-realized, and feels both plausible and creepy as all hell.

Great gore, great humour, pick it up. It's a blast.

Fun, spooky, retro
