Go into the addon folder, find the .gma(s) of the addon, and just move it to the side (like to your desktop), then boot up gmod. It'll redownload then.
That helped me after I had a weird download.
I say keep the old one(s) since maybe they aren't the problem, and backing up files when working with them is a good habit to get into.
