Use search to find "horse" and you can mount soldiers on it, but it has no attack of any kind

If you use a wagon or a stagecoach with the horses, when you get attacked and your are near them they will kill you or your squad, or platoon on foot or horse. Also if you are in a wagon or stagecoach when attacked everyone in the wagon or stagecoach with be ejected.

You also have to put all of solders in the wagon or stagecoach before conecting the horses. Waypoints have to be with horse not with rider once you place a rider on them.
