After the game crashes, don't open it back up, but instead go to the file:
C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\SpaceEngineers\SpaceEngineers.log
This will likely have the error that caused the problem, you can paste it here or upload it somewhere.

The mod does very little graphics-wise. Can you try:
- Loading the save game without any mods
- Loading the save game without any other mods except cenda's Almost Total Dark http://psteamcommunity.yuanyoumao.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=755562059
The latter's sbc file is embedded in the EFM mod and affects the lighting
thx keen for update
Go to the library, right click Space Engineers, Click on properties, then click on the betas tab, and then choose 1.179, this will roll you back to before the update :)
Hi, I had a look into this - it seems like backups don't take a copy of the mod's save data, and Save As makes a new one too. Not sure I can do anything about the backup system, but I'll keep looking at the Save As problem.
It looks like you're getting this bug. It's not unique to this mod I don't think:

I suggest rolling back to 1.179 as described above

I also had the issue with the backups/quickloading, due to clang, I can't recall if it reset the blocks that I've unlocked. If it has, a quick workaround would be to enable creative tools with alt + shift + F12 and then make a sacrifice to clang of the components, if you know which block you are missing.
There's also a slight issue with the darkness, switching from what I assume is part of the mod, to the normal SE lighting. This only seems to be around lighting, like at the crash site and other buildings with lights. No issues with small ship or personal lights though.
Thanks Duckroll, this really is amazing :D Really enjoying it so far.
Cheers.
This should be fixed now. Stuff that was "already forgotten" won't magically come back, but future saves will be fine.
