Is this a reference to the enemy pulse rifle with red projectiles?

I was on Hardcore one playthrough and randomly obtained it somehow. Since then I have never been able to find it again. At first I thought it was a setting but I don't think it is. It's the pulse rifle that the Sergeants have- but at this point I'm entertaining the possibility that I'm going insane and this never happened

Yes. There's a consistent way to steal their gun, independent of any settings.

I got it on my run just now as well. I suspect you might need to knife kill the first sergeant. But it got replaced with the plasma rifle when I killed the Longhunter.

You're like 90% there. :) It doesn't have to be the first enemy, btw, just as long as you don't already have its replacement.

And yeah, it gets replaced with the more powerful weapon. If you want to keep it, you can enable the alpha pulse rifle option. The secret weapon's novelty was significantly diminished when I added that setting, but I left it in for fun to keep the tie into the lore.

I love it to be honest. I think it fits in very naturally and I'm really glad you left it in but also gave people another method to it. Thanks for the love and passion you've put into Turok through this mod. I cannot imagine playing without it now.
