It's useful for low lvl players until they get to sedatives, which is the ultimate taming drug as force feeding it to an unconscious dino wipes out their hunger completely, and maximizes their torpor (absolutely no negative effect, unless you're trying to wake up the dino lol).
If a creature wakes up from the directly torpor-drain effect when feeded an opiate, it could happen, that you cannot tranq the creature again. Another Problem i saw multiple times is, that narcotics or narcoberries won't counter the torpor drain if i feed them by holding "E". Only if i press E for every single narcotic, torpor will go up again, or you hit the sleeping dino with tranq arrows or darts to raise it's torpor again. No problem for creatures you tame for Kibble eggs, but this method destroys taming effectivity and is not recommended for all tames you want to reach good taming results.
