You'll never lose progress by adding a mod. Though if you remove it you'll obviously lose the items/dinos/etc. from that mod.

It will, however, overwrite some wild spawns(like tek spawns), adding in it's own, as well as non-tameable tek variants.

While it won't wipe the game, it might be better to do a new game regardless as large majority of dinos are redone. And already tamed dinos won't inherit the new changes. Some dinos have stats increase, and all flying dinos can get speed lvl up (which makes classic flying mod not necessary).
