Hi sure, however I did mostly digging in behind big river line vs. AI germany ( dont have the map before me, its the tartu-smolensk-kiev line, the secondary line so to say. That said, you should either commit to full out digging in on that line OR on a flexible, mobile defense ... doing a bit of both wont work well. Artillery is your friend and you have the resources for it. Spamming frontlines with the maximum of troops will cause chaos when the first lines are overrun and retreat into the hinterland ( provide enough infrastructure on and behind defensive lines ). Speed will save your divisions ... slow units get overrun very quickly when reatreating.

Your biggest advantage is manpower, the cold winter and the physical size of your land. You need to buy time and retreat, build lots of divisions! Cheap Light infantry 20 width templates should be good along with some armored template. You also need to make sure the US player sends you lots of lend-lease! Do the purge early.

is it a good idea to have the frontline made out of the light infantry and tanks and have a secondary line of NKVD divisions behind them so they can let the light infantry re-organize while also having 3 armies entrench themselves on the tartu-smolensk-kiev river since too many divisions on the frontline will cause supply and maneuvering issues?

Im not really sure, what you really need to focus on is quickly pulling back some units (or reserves) with strategic redeploy by microing them if germany makes a major breakthrough. As the defender in battles he bleeds more eq and men so it is possible to stop the breakthroughs.

just want to let both of you know that I tried your strategies out on single player and it worked out perfectly
