I can't load my current game, since this mod updated to 18 without asking.
Also there is no A17 version in the workshop.

Did you really just overwritten the old mod instead of uploading the 18 version as a new file?
Why does everyone think everyone is deleting there games the moment a new version comes around and the old mods aren't needed anymore?
