He did add rough support to Hl2p1 including a sub gamemode but it does need some work. Some transitions take away all your weapons (The final level being one of them and guess what there is no RPG on that map to pick up). Alyx Vance gets left behind in one of the City 17 maps (don't remember which one). Alyx also sometimes doesn't have a weapon when she needs it. When she picks up the sniper she sometimes shoots at you, the Citedal levels are kind of broke as you don't have the Super gravity gun when you should. So yes you could now, but wouldn't recommend it unless you are not afriad to use sv_cheats once in a while to noclip past a few broken spots.

Last I checked on the Github there doesn't look like any progress has been made on that front. I'm pretty sure this gamemode has died since its been awhile since any update activity has happened on either the github or the workshop release.

I don't know about the other stuff, but i do know that the alyx using the sniper rifle and shooting you is just because when alyx uses the sniper rifle, it's still the default sniper npc, but with a different behavior. The behavior probably just doesn't load.
