indeed it would not but the mod is not trying to present any form of canon and already has clashing characters.

This sounds like a big project, but it would be cool to see if there was an option to choose between the 3 eras (Clone Wars, Galactic Empire and First Order) when you start a new game. I'm not sure if this is possible with the M&B engine, but it would be possible to split them into 3 different modules.

Seeing as the developers don't seem very active, i don't think we will see this mod getting updated any time soon anyway.

No modder i know, whom deals with Star Wars modifications for Warband is intrested in the slightest to work on any content from the new movies.
A Clone Wars mod there is, however. But currently only for the original Mount and Blade.

If its the final release then the developer should perhaps state that a little more than placing "Final Release" on the workshop image, otherwise its hard to be certain.
