Ship upgrades further increase your characters' skills.

For example:
- Trading computer level will add to your characters' Trade skill
- Cargo hold leve will increase the amount of inventory slots your character has

Regarding your problem - did you have enough Charisma to further increase your Leadership skill? I believe Troop capacity increases your Leadership.

I did the same thing with cargo hold. It didn't increase my space at all. Not sure if I did something wrong.

I had cheats on and i had already maxed out all of my stats. Could that have been the problem?

Possibly.

If you've already maxed all your skills, I think you can't increase them further by upgrading your ship. :D

I'm not sure what might be causing this. When I upgrade my ship, my skills normally increase.
Maybe someone else might be able to help.

The skill increased, but the actual number of sots didn't, it was weird LOL

Cargo = Inventory Managment can't be over 10 even if you cheat a 15 in the Skills.txt. The Maximum Space for ItemIcons is Hardcoded to 10. You gain 6 Slots per Skillpoint.

The TroopCargo is Leadership equivalent. This can be Cheated to 15.
Ship + own Skill has the same Maximum as own skill alone.

Maximum is 10 uncheated, 15 Cheated...
