USE RESHADE!!!
I've come to the conclusion that there could'nt possibly be a better in-game menu than Reshade (link in this mods description) for adjusting this mod's darkness levels to suit your needs. I'll describe some of the helpful effects to turn on and play with:
-HDR
-Levels *** (probably the best fine-tuning setting for light levels)

Where do I finetune it? Or do I do something wrong when installing the Reshade files?

In what sense? When in-game you press the key that brings up the menu, which for me is shift+F2 i think. The top menu is where you pick which filters or effects you want to have active, and the bottom menu is the place where you can fine-tune the specific effects.

Awesome! It can be quite intimidating at first but once you play around with it, you'll see that only a few effects really work on Rimworld. Also, for most fine-tuning a tooltip will usually appear when you hover your cursor over a variable.

I'm using HDR and Levels (Black set to 8 and White at the default 235). Dark scary nights.

Ok I figured it out but I really don't like how it changes the entire game rather than just the lighting. To get the lighting as dark as I want at night I have to make the menus and everything else look absolutely terrible. Now I can't figure out how to uninstall this... *sigh*

Something isn't right because you should'nt have to do that. it took me a while to get the hang of it and its definitely an advanced user kind of thing.

dpx and clarity and colorfulness are really good shaders as well

also shader order matters so reordering shaders can be worth doing

default hotkey to toggle shaders is shift f3
and shift f2 to toggle editor

I know you are not tech support for reshade, but I don't have a Shift-F2 menu, even though I followed the installation procedure, I have a shaders folder in Rimworld now, and there were no error messages. Any ideas?

i recommend using gshade, its a lot easier to keep track of yuur reshade installs
