About Tricorder
Is there a way to bind a key to instantly open the tricorder instead of having it in the hotbar or opening up the inventory in order to open the tricorder

Yes, and it teaches you this in the introduction. Check the tooltip for your Tricorder. One of the keys allows you to open a tool configuration menu. Using this you can put the tricorder in one of your core item slots (say, the paintbrush for example). That gives you Hotkey accessibility.
