Istanbul is falsely named Constantinople
I had to look this up to be sure. Constantinople was immediately renamed to Istanbul after the Ottomans conquered it in the 15th century. I just thought it was odd that other Anatolian provinces are named accurately while the capital is named wrongly.

Love the game. Keep up the great work!

Following its defeat in World War I, the sultanate of the Ottoman Empire was abolished in 1922, and the Republic of Turkey was born in 1923, according to Britannica. Shortly thereafter, in 1930, the Turkish postal service decided that some clarification was in order, and it opted to make Istanbul the city's official name. Other institutions soon followed suit. That same year, the U.S. State Department and other governments around the world began using Istanbul in their official communications.

So, it's hard to say exactly when Constantinople became Istanbul because by the time it was made official, people had already been using Istanbul and variations of that name for centuries. It's impossible to put a date on when the transition came to pass in popular speech because language evolves so gradually.

Istanbul may not be official name until 1930 but Istanbul was used in official documents. Istanbul is the correct term instead of Constantinople because Turks mostly used Istanbul including common language. If you want to be correct in the mod if Istanbul is conquested by Greece change it to Constantinople, but Istanbul is the correct term for all the other countries.

You can see that Istanbul is used from 10th century by the Turks in Wikipedia page.

Well, that's what I thought after a cursory wiki read. Still am curious if the locals and more importantly the ruling class actually called the city that.

That is if you respect the Turkish government, which you shouldn't. Considering the vapid denial of the Armenian genocide and their specific conquest and near genocide of the Byzantian people.

Atleast their ancestors' conquest and near genocide of the Byzantian people*

Can you prove Armenian genocide occurred? Turkish government offered Armenians to open their archives together and let neutral historians to decide if genocide is occurred and Turkey was ready to accept all consequences if they thought genocide was real. ARMENIAN GOVERNMENT REFUSED because they only have political power around the world but they do not have evidence. So don't talk about things that you have no idea about.
