Against players spacing your troops as one said is fantastic, it's also from my perspective about being proactive, make sure you have a unit ready to counter some light vehicles early on and a sniper against MG emplacements, depending on the map an early mortar can be amazing, same with an early MG, other maps going for a sniper or a light vehicle rush could be killer, it's very dependable but in general, Proactive > Reactive IMO
As for AI, Turtle is the way to go, they send waves upon waves against your lines, rushing an early AT gun is what i find to be the best against the harder AI's but all in all just playing very defensive is usually the way to go.
I hope this helps, i'm by no means a pro player or amazing, but i think this can help out at least a little.
yep, im usually more on the reactive side. Always have a panzerschrek and what not ready to counter stuff but it always happens that I'm trying to play a more generalistic strategy while the opponent rushes me with either mortars or light vehicles at the start and kills me. Im so much better at managing tanks, ATs and tank hunters on late game, but I usually get overwhelmed by the fast pace of early game!
