Tech tree broken and starting units are mechs
I am not sure if I missed something but I have looked on google and such and did not find anyone with this issue, when I start a game, I get 3 mech units and a settler, the tech tree is blank and I have every single tech choice in the drop down list, am I mentally disabled or just unlucky?

Dude this post is old as ♥♥♥♥, anyhow, I think it was something to do with the game files or other mods am not sure anymore because this post is a year old :I

I may have figured it out though. It seems to be a compatability issue with the Prehistoric era mod. Once I disabled it, it seemed to be fine. I found a patch here:

I am going to check it out once its downloaded.

I'm spawning with battlesuits as well, though I don't know if tech tree is broken (haven't checked yet). I don't have the Prehistoric era mod, though, so this is pretty odd.

I have managed to get two of the mods working, Future Worlds and Enlightment Era, though I'm not sure how. I haven't even done a fresh install of the game, I just redownloaded and installed the mods through steam. It has been working for months without any issues.

To work it with Vox Populi and EnlightmentEra(VP):

I just added references for "EnlightenmentEra(Vox Populi)" in "FutureWorlds" modinfo file and that linked all techs correctly:
1.Find file "Future Worlds (v 6).modinfo" (default location: "\Documents\My Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 5\MODS\Future Worlds (v 6)"
2.Edit in notepad or wordpad.
3.Add in refernces line (with 4 spacebars at begining):

4.This is how it looks finally:
