You can manually set the sensitivity lower by entering "sensitivity" in the console, and then a value. If you can't open console, just type -console into the starting parameters of the game.

Turns out my solution didn't work. The "sensitivity" value seems to only affect the mouse speed in the menu.. All the solutions I found online with editing "joy_xx" values appear not to work either - if you ever find a working solution, please keep me posted!
