Metastream is the answer to all the limitations found in GMod. Things like Netflix, Hulu, and all the major services will never work in GMod due to video encodings and DRM. It also works without having to wait for gmod devs to finish chromium support.

I'd imagine there's also a larger audience outside of GMod which would like a synchronized streaming media tool like it. A desktop app is more practical than launching GMod just to watch videos with friends.

I don't think just using discord is a good experience. You need to verbally sync up playback and queueing media wouldn't really be possible. What features would convince you it's a useful app?

To answer your question though, no—it won't be connected to the tv.

Discord has been able to stream audio for months now. I am unsure why this has ever been in doubt.

i mean you know rabb.it exists, i dont think you needed to make an entire app for this

I've yet to try this at all, but I'd like to point out that rabb.it is a service which already achieves this.

I'm not saying this to discourage you, I'm just saying that if you want to make a useful program you need to take a look at rabb.it and see what it does and doesn't do and provide a program that has its own niche.

It's more similar to a media player which supports letting your friends connect. Honestly, whether or not it lives up to rabb.it isn't my concern—I prefer the execution Metastream offers.
