This item is a reference to the Marvel superhero, Blade, a vampire/human hybrid with the strengths of a vampire, but, being part human, none of their weaknesses.
The item's name is a parody of Daywalker, a term referring to a vampire that has mutated to resist sunlight.
The original name for this item is a nod to the actor whom played Blade, Wesley Snipes.
