So: Statistics?
I'd probably say less ammo, more afterburn damage, and alt fire throws the objects at the enemy, causing an explosion on contact. Then, it can only be retrieved from a resupply locker.
I bet there's going to be a load of bad ideas, worse than mine, but fire away.

were suggesting,ok lets see
it would charge up the shot(by shaking the can)and burst out with fire bolts,(like the beggars bazooka)you could only charge up 6 shots,and enemies hit are marked for death,charging more than 6 would hit you with all 6+ shots

[secondary, damage: person hit=90 if close -120 if far, mini crits= 100 if close - 140 if far, crits= 190 regardless; people caught in explosion but not hit=20-30 damage always)
+Light the can on fire, toss it, and it will explode in a fire, igniting and damaging the person hit and all nearby.
+Person hit will leave a flaming trail behind them for the duration of their burn, hurting and start fires on enemies who walk through.
-If can is held burning too long (4 seconds), will explode
-Recharge time 15 seconds
-Can be airblasted

Type Of Item: Secondary

Attack Type: Thrown

Damage Type: Explosive/Afterburn

Effects:
+Deals 40% more damage
+Causes a cloud of fire, so any enemies who walk through it catch on fire.
+Infinite Ammo
+Use the explosion to kill a sentry in order to gain crits for the next 8 throws.
-Explodes in your hand if held for 10 seconds without being thrown
-Explosion can kill ally players
-Marks you for death
-No random critical hits

Same stats as the lying cake said, but it has an "over heat" bar that goes up when firing continuously, and, when full, makes the can blow up, killing the pyro and sets fire to anyone around him/her/it.
