no, but it is broken in mutliplayer servers. so it only works in single player, and the newest update might have broken it too.

from what I recall you just howl next to Wild Wolves and they join you as tamed Wolves but can Never Lvl up. It's possible the recent update broke it.

Good that you say it. I the latest update, i made a change to the direwolf howl system. Only lower level wolfs can join your pack. Howling only works as a male. I did this to balance with the breeding.
