Meesmoth's Tip #1: Do NOT modify outside connections other than road ones, or else you'll be needing to restart your entire city again.
WHen I check the air paths at the edge of the map, the stock paths show no electricity or water, and paths I place myself have another symbol that I'm not sure of.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Don't know what I messed up, but few things I could think of that might have broken it -
1) Mods: Installed Enhanced District Services because I couldn't get my specialized industry supply chains to work in vanilla. Might have installed this before cruise ship issue.
2) I might have built a new ferry path across the cruise ship path as I expend my ferry network. Would that break it?
I also tried moving my harbor to a different location that has straight line access to the original map ship line (yellow dotted), without success. Couldn't figure out the issue so decided to wait for airports to unlock.
And now my airport is built for several years with bus connection, but has NOT seen a single plane or tourist serviced. I even moved my airport right over the map plane line (pink dotted) even though I believe airports can be placed anywhere on the map. That doesn't work either.
Anyone has any idea?
I have dozens of mods, including EDS (I might shut it off to see if this fixes it).
In any case if you edit them in game you have to let the game play for a while (1 - 2 game years) to see the airplanes spawning again. If that doesn't happen check the outside connections properly placed, check your paths are independent and don't merge, and finally check your mod compatibility.
I also recommend to draw paths perpendicular to the runway heading and at a proper distance from the threshold so airplanes don't loop or do weird things when approaching.
Ultimately, the thing that caused passenger planes to finally start landing was to add a CARGO plane stand. For some reason, once I put a cargo plane stand down, cargo planes started landing... and then passenger planes started landing too! Now I have a decent amount of passenger traffic through my airport. No clue why it works, but I recommend creating cargo infrastructure if you also run in to this bug.
