Or perhaps a "used car(ship) lot" where ships are held for sale until purchased - which might make a good player owned trade zone business. "Bobs used spaceship mart" which allows ships to remain on sale even once the owner has gone offline.
Other players have requested the ability to buy entire ships at NPC trade zones; and still others want to be able to sell off entire ships, either as an auto break down of parts; (scrap value) or into some sort of market place where it can be purchased and spawned in again.
We generally dont like the scrap option, simply as griefers would use it too much potentially to steal builds (although it would be a good way to motivate players to clean up scrap for money) - nor am I too hot on the idea of magically teleporting a ship into nowhere land only to be magically re-spawned in later when someone buys it out again - as it is equally open to abuse.
One option another player was thinking about pushing to our github themself, was prefab ship trading. But you would only be able to /buy/ these, and only at NPC zones.
We could justify it as ships being "manufactured elsewhere, and jumped in" once purchased.
At the moment the "lore" behind Fronter Economy is Blue Mining Inc developed "high prescision jump drives that teleport purchases right into your inventory" as our tool for suspension of disbelief.
