I don't know if you have figured it out by now since this was posted a while ago but you probably have them set as 'in formation' which clusters them together like a squad if they have a line connecting them, change that and it should work. Assuming this is similar to the same issue I ran into trying to get them to go to a waypoint. (it just stuck the waypoint with the spawner.)
