This has always been a technical limitation because the custom soundscripts had to be defined on a per map basis. I've just updated the description to mention this.

Got it to work on custom maps by biting the bullet and replacing the sound files themselves and re-scripting the system to no longer need soundscripts.
It's now on the same level as sound replacement mods, but that's a worthy trade-off.
