don't know how, but if you want an easier fix - build a farm on the colony (Stage II), then increase the production of the colony by spam building village churches (Stage II). The farm produces 50/week I believe? And percentage increases multiply that, so 200% would mean double production per week, and so on. You need at least one food per colonist, per week.
