How to recruit sergeant troops
So, you know, I've been a British soldier for nearly three months now and I still can't figure out how to get those sergeant troops. My troops can't be promoted further "Foot Guard" or anything of that sort, and there's no option in the military depot to recruit them either. I guess I need to get promoted further sergeant-major, which is my current rank, but I am not entirely sure... So yeah, pretty lost here.

You can only recruit men of the private rank in the entire game (excluding flag bearers). So what I tend to do is buy an NCO/CO uniform and equip it to my companions, they usually stand to the right/left of their assigned line as well which looks rather splendid.
