Tip #1: The first use of munitions is game changingly important to the player. Attempt to scout out initially.
Tip #2: Commisars are Mongtards.

And for a fresh reminder perhaps some players should remember to do the tutorial for some absurdly key details.

On first contact I went to the left side of the MG. There is a wrecked truck there which offers green cover and you can comfortably take out the enemies one by one in a slogging match from that cover point. From there I vaulted to the trench with the MG with Otto and killed everything.

I agree with you, the commissar is a pain.

I made it to the big base but died fighting the officer in there. I will definitely have another try but my advice to anyone playing this map is TAKE IT SLOW. Think before you do anything and use cover all the time! Another tip is don't waste muni, it's so scarce...

Yeah it's like I said it reminds me of some of the older shooters that were excruciatingly difficult unless you understood what was happening and was thinking out things the whole time.

At the start I avoided everyone and just stuck to the frozen river and then took the munitions near those NKVD honorarys or whatever they were called. Don't attempt to fight them there since there are no green cover but the fast munitions help.

A simple contribution to make:
Use men with rifles to attract fire while Otto (and Friedrich, if you upgraded him with a Stg44) move in or flank.
And as said before, take it slow, this is a hard and big map.

on the first area, (that is all I have passed....mortar karma). Is to use your rifle grenade, to blow the arty officer back to moscow. Then throw a bundle grenade at the MG and clean up the rest of a ruskies (why anton WHY THE VODKA!) there are small muni scattered in one area, then follow the frozen river and ditch the 6 man shocktroop squd and bundle grenade the penal squad. That is all i have on the first area

my tip for those who have a hard time with the mortar is to spreak out and keep moving focus on 1 side with 2 troops and let otto draw the mortar fire while keep moving him. FFS guys its a russian mortar it cant hit ♥♥♥♥

I found a nice little trick for the partisan ambush. Just put everyone except Kurt into a building then get Kurt to start the ambush. Nobody dies even when all partisans have MG42s (they all spawned MG42s for me).
