I am a fan of re-texture mods, but there are some great mods out there compatible with TSL that I haven't tried (because I was playing through fairly vanilla).
Here are some that I use/love:
- Invisible Headgear for TSL by Shem. I don't know how I ever played without it. This one is a must.

- Anything by Effix. You can look through his gallery here...

- All mods by HassatHunter should be compatible with TSLRCM.
And I haven't tried any of them, but I've seen a few retextures that enhance the game's details (e.g. companions clothing, planets, etc.) if you're into that kind of thing.
You can also check NexusMods or DeadlyStream for more mods that may not be on Steam. You can use the Steam Workshop or directly place files into the game, when you do it yourself, you can make sure you wont accidently corrupt something.
