Speaking of which, what about torpedo drones, that each burst-fires a few powerful but slow (as in, muzzleVel=150) cannon rounds? They could have so low a fire rate (and/or so short a lifespan) that they only get a shot or two per done, explaining why they don't end up loitering at extreme range after their first burst...
Recoil is calculated with both damage and muzzle velocity (try messing around with a 100 damage, 10,000 velocity cannon in the sandox), meaning the recoil shouldn't be too bad. Just, make sure the drone has a decent acceleration rate but starts off moving slowly (to prevent it from spending its entire life trying to turn around) ^^'
A spread cannon where the shell splits into multiple shots that deal individual damage (unfortunately I have no expereince in doing said thing.
What about an unguided torpedo with a low explosion damage by itself, but which carries a high-power spread cannon?
The torp could have high energy storage but low generation, meaning it only gets a certain amount of shots...
