Guns
How do i get guns for my own character? and also what nation can recruit units that upgrade to musketeers?

in ad1573 scenario. you can hire musketeer unit. and enable buying musket at market.

and if there are pistols can you use a sheild with a pistol at the same time?

there are flintlock pistols. and yes, you can use a shield with them.
You find ammo in shops in Spain and Portugal.

I can't find guns at all. Is there a special area I need to go to? I am in the ad1573, but I still can't find any.
