GUIDE: HOW TO MAKE THIS WORK
I've just spent about an hour working this out so I though I might as well write it down for everyone. Here are the steps you will need to do to get it working:

- Subscribe to this mod

- Go to terrain.party and find the area you want to export. Download the area.
- Open the readme file in the zip file you get and copy the the numbers on the end of the link in there. All the characters after box=
- Go to http://overpass-api.de/api/map?bbox=YOURNUMBERSHERE but replace YOURNUMBERSHERE with the numbers you copied, and edit each number so there are only 4 numbers after each period/full-stop. A file should download called map.osm.

- Go to https://github.com/rdiekema/Cities-Skylines-Mapper/releases and download Mapper.zip
- Open the zip and copy Mapper.dll and paste it over Mapper.dll in the mod's folder on your computer. Mine was at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\255710\416064574

- Start the game
- Go to options and enable the mod
- Go into tools and map editor/creator and create a new app
- Click on the last road symbol on the icon bar

-paste your line of coordinates from earlier into the box that currently has coordinates in, then click fetch from terrain.party. Your landscape should load. You may want to smooth it out at this stage.

-change the file location above import from osm to the location of the map.osm file you downloaded earlier. Do not put .osm on the end.
- Click load from osm
- Click create roads
- You should now have roads

Worked for me ty! Only thing I had to change was the way I got the osm file. I went directly to the website and entered the cordinates in manually using the numbers from the text file.

I had the same error, what i did was go to openstreetmap.org and click the export function, enter the coordinates, then click the "Overpass API" link under the big export button to get it to export from overpass instead of openstreetmap.

I cannot get the .osm file. Whenever I input my coordinates to http://overpass-api.de/api/map?bbox=YOURNUMBERSHERE then I get this error message:
Error: line 1: static error: The value of attribute "n" of the element "bbox-query" must always be greater or equal than the value of attribute "s".

I had the same issue. Your bounding box coordinates are in the wrong order due to the longitude being negative. Swap the coordinate order.

Here's my original: -121.6466,38.7587,-121.8540,38.5970
Swapped: -121.8540,38.5970,-121.6466,38.7587

Same here. Typed in the coordinates from the city "Mainz" (8.371110,50.053330,8.119275,49.891634) like ist was described:

"paste your line of coordinates from earlier into the box that currently has coordinates in, then click fetch from terrain.party. Your landscape should load"

Game crashed. Landscape was not possible to load

Thanks!!! Cannot load from terrain.party, but imported heightmap and then followed instructions. I'm not going to sleep for weeks!!!

What am I doing wrong? Could someone post a new guide? No matter what Cimtograopher version I use, my game always crashes after importing the height map.

I've rewritten the instructions based on what worked for me and based on the buttons and menu options in the current version of Cities: Skylines that I'm playing.

1) Subscribe to this mod

2) Download terrain.party map
a) Go to terrain.party and find the area you want to export. Download the area.
b) Extract the zip file to C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Addons\MapEditor\Heightmaps
• If the MapEditor or Hightmaps folers do not exist, create them
c) Open the readme file you just extracted and copy the the numbers on the end of the link in there. All the characters after box=
d) Reverse the two sets of numbers and reduce to 4 decimal places
• eg. -77.499938,43.241825,-77.721906,43.080128
turns into
-77.7219,43.0801,-77.4999,43.2418
e) Go to http://overpass-api.de/api/map?bbox=YOURNUMBERSHERE but replace YOURNUMBERSHERE with the numbers from part 2.d
f) Move the file that downloads to C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents

3) Update mapper
a) Go to https://github.com/rdiekema/Cities-Skylines-Mapper/releases and download Mapper.zip
b) Open the zip and copy Mapper.dll and paste it over Mapper.dll in the mod's folder on your computer. Mine was at
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\workshop\content\255710\416064574

4) Start Cities: Skylines

5) Go to Content Manager --> Mods and enable Cimtographer

6) Go back to the main menu, click Editors --> Map Editor --> New --> Create

7) Load Terrain
a) Click on the Import Heightmap button (the icon has a blue arrow pointing to the right) and choose one of the files for your city, then click Import. Personally, I like the USGS file. You can click on each of them to see which you like best.

8) Load Roads
a) Click on the road icon on the right end of the icon bar. Check that the Path field matches both the location and filename of your OpenStreetMap file from step 2.f (there shouldn't be any file type extension, the filename is just map, not map.osm)
b) Click Load OSM From File
c) Click Make Roads
d) Wait while magic happens
StrayFire 2017 年 2 月 5 日 下午 4:54
the game seems to freeze when I click "Load OSM From File"

EDIT: Okay wow it worked! You have to wait several minutes. THANKS!
