Strange lane bug

I have this setup here, but no car ever takes the orange lane. All the traffic going into the tunnel takes the green lane, then when they get to where the circle is they will dart across into the lane they want. The tunnel forks into 3 ramps about 25 units later. I have tried deleting and rebuilding the road to no effect.

As you can see I also tried encouraging them to use the orange lane by telling them they can split back under the highway signs but it didn't change anything either.

You can see some more information about this issue in later discussions. Its a problem with the game itself, not the Mod. I'm still trying to figure out how to best manage it, TBH.

Basically what youre seeing is one of the game's default lane transfer nodes. Basically the game generates these nodes along roads without intersections to allow vehicles to presort and change lanes.

Whats happening with yours is that the vehicles youre sending off to the right want to pre-sort for the next crossing as soon as possible. Theyll do this at the next transfer node. With Traffic++ you can actually adjust those nodes as well! Just click on it and force traffic to go straight through if you want, or limit them to one lane change.

I actually use this to create presorting channels that dont allow vehicles to jump more then one lane at a time, or clear a lane before a intersection.

Beware though, if you force vehicles into lanes you can actually make some routes impossible.

I know at some point there was talk of CO fixing this "bug."

Are we still hopeful for an AI upgrade or are we resigned to this?
