Mod Creator calling all those who are getting CTD on game load
Hi all,

I've seen that some of you have been having issues with the mod, from what I can gather the majority of you seem to be having video card issues. Getting upset because your own machine can't run shader 2 will not help anything, we know the mod works, we're not idots, we got it running in the first place.

The new HWR releases have issues with some graphics cards. To ensure the game will run on your system set your card settings to default and let the game decide what to do. When in game at the options window don't get carried away. Start on default settings. Make one change at a time and try it. If you run into a problem you'll know exactly which setting was responsible.

If it's still giving you problems try updating your drivers. If this doesn't help then you may want to try an older driver. Sometimes this will fix the problem.

I GOT IT TO WORK!!!! apperently for older games, it is set up to use the integrated graphics instead of the graphics card. All i had to do was set te gpu to the 870m instead of integrated graphics. Maybe this could help others that are having similar issues

You will need to experiment and see if you can turn down your video settings to get the game running at all. For the old Homeworld 2 we releleased a Shader 1 and Shader 2 supporting version, if there is enough demand here then I'll have to upload a SEPARATE version of STC without the refined shaders.

IT WILL LOOK LIKE {Redacted}, but you lot with your out of date computers should be able to play too then. Sound off if you'll benefit from this

IF however you are already in the game and come across a bug you will need to go to our forum on Moddb and post the following:

1. A description of the bug
2. Steps to recreate the bug
3. The contents of the hw2.log file
(found at *\Steam\steamapps\common\Homeworld\Homeworld2Classic\Bin\Release\hw2.log)

Sadface..Was working fine a few days ago.Not sure what happened now it just CTD on launch...Can not wait til a fix is updated.Thanks Nathanius

ive downloaded a bunch of mods threw the workshop...but I ony use 1 at a time.not sure

This isn't worth the effort anymore sadly. I'll just wait till the HWR release and pray it works. It was a great mod when I was able to play it. Love the modles and choices for the era's.

Whenever I try to go into a skirmish of any kind, the game crashes. The loading bar gets a little over 1/3 of the way done and then it just exits out. I've tried messing around with the video settings and it doesn't seem to be working. I'm hoping it's not my graphics card, but I'm not sure.

PS- Graphics card is an Intel Integrated Grphics 4000

OMG i have no idea what to do i roled back my driver updated as well none works and my pc i just got 2 weeks ago it a 2014 alienware so not outdated

Tried everything, just keeps CTD on startup. Running a desktop with a 770. :(

Just posted this in the other thread but will also post here just incase people have missed it.

Hey guys just found a fix that worked for me!


I'm running Windows 8.1 with a GTX 770 and 8GB of RAM

Had homeworld installed in this directory "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld"

Every time I tried to launch the mod it would crash on start up.

**FIX FOR ME**

I moved the game onto another hard drive completely into another steam games folder I have.

I read somewhere online on a post from years ago that it could be a permissions issue or something.
The guy in the post managed to fix his game by moving it out of "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Homeworld"


Hope this fixes it for you guys!

I'm using a Alienware laptop with windows 7 GTX 660 and I don't know why it crashes during loading of a game? Any hints or help.....some good help!..

Getting a CTD here. Looks like same issue as others--startup, black screen, then silent CTD after a second or two. All intel/nvidia, no AMD graphics driver issues. i7 @2.8 GHz and GTX 460 SE. I have no idea what the stack trace looks like but something in the mod is causing an exception in the .exe. Minidump here: http://pastebin.com/ASD49bsD

Just FYI, the minidump is useless to modders, you need HW2.log

I suspect you'll see that it will complain a few files have random characters as their starting points in there though, a few people have had corrupted downloads of the mod files somehow. You'll probably need to delete the mod files and re-download them

Yep, just did as I was typing that comment up. Just loaded it up fine, so I guess it was a corrupted mod install. Thanks!

Cant belive I missed that, I shall try a couple of times to see if it works
