The Monochrome Contest

Post entries here, it's a requirement if you want a chance at winning the black bill's hat for the contest

One entry per person by the way. If you change your entry, don't make a new post. edit your existing post. this makes it easier for me to navigate the thread

don't be afraid to ask questions about the contest in this thread, either. I will see every post, don't worry

heck i'll take a shot at it, it looks like a really cool idea! I do have one question though so @siesan I am new to this idea of monochrome and an idea popped into my head but since you are the creator of the contest and you know about this art form then I do I will ask you if this is allowed. I want to create a short where its both colored like a normal sfm video BUT it will switch between reality and monochrome is that allowed?

glad you asked this. let me address this question

the simple answer is no. The challenge here is to make the entire short in this fashion (2 different distinct colors / designs). Any combo of colors or designs is fine, and it needs to be done on one of these maps. (for reference, you can see my example short called BLUE)

I should also mention, that you can use multiple sets in your short
(for example, half of the short is blue + black, while other half is red + white, etc) and you can use as many combos as possible. Think of this contest as making a short using outlines. whatever you put into those outlines is up to you (solid colors provided on the map, checkerboards you fill it in with in your video editor, etc)

Hey, this is just a shot in the dark, but I think it'd be more rewarding for animators if you'd showcase the winning work on the map page, as well as giving the black bill's hat. It'd work as a promotion for the animator and the map, which would be a plus plus situation for all of us.

Hi Shius! Of course, yeah I originally planned to do that as well. I agree, promotion is one of the best gifts a content creator can get
