Now, in order to actually use this, you need to sort ot listen about the local prices in various cities (it's in the market menu, I believe)
The ledger's purpose is to basically record what information you gather in a more conventional way.
I had seen that option on the camp menu but it was always greyed out. I typically don't ask about local prices so that would explain why I never saw that.
