How to use the targeting systems?
How do you use the LANTIRN and other targeting pods? I designated the target, turned it on but nothing happens? I tried locking on with missiles but to no avail? Help is appreciated

The I-TGT system is for JDAMs. Once you have designated the target the JDAM will automatically seek the position.

To use to pods you push in the keyboard CTRL+MOUSE RIGHT CLICK ,most of the uses are for laser designation GBU-10,11,12 bombs the I-TGT is for both laser and GPS guided bombs(JDAMS)

I noticed that there are GPS guided weapons available. Will these weapons open up a GPS tablet to enter the target and does such a GPS targeting system comes as defauld if one chooses the JDAM weapon?

Left Control & right mouse click to open the camera on your aircraft & then use your mouse to mover the targeting pod. Ctrl & T to lock the targeting pod to the area.

@antiload I do that, but there isn’t an option to use the laser marker. That is what I need help with.

Keep pressing F to change the weapon and you should see "laser pointer" or something similair appear. Then click fire to turn the laser on.

@red leader that’s what I am trying to do... there isn’t an option to turn the laser marker on.

You choose Laser once again and L Mouse to fire, this will turn your laser off. Repeat & it will turn it back on.

@antiload the option to use the laser doesn’t appear. I know how to laser mark things with other planes, but not this one...

Just to let you know that the I-TGT system is not appearing in the F16 in single player.

Idk how the state of the question is (if you still need help or not), since it has been 2-3 years, but I can answer: Not all planes have the laser designator, on some you need to exchange a weapon pylon with batteries for it and some just have it by default like the A10D Thunderbolt 2 or the A 164 Wipeout, which are both vanilla.

Edit: it's called the "Laser Marker" and the F/A 181 Black Wasp 2 has it aswell. So I will take a large assumption and say all default aircraft have it.

guys i dont know if its still relevant but when im the weapons officer the targeting pod is different and when i try to do an area lock it just lases it, i have this stuff happening on all the vehicles that have a weapons officer

I also have a problem with the weapons officer not being able to camaera lock onto targets thorugh the Ctrl + Right Click targeting pod which means the weapons officer has to free hand the laser target
