Here is the explanation from Golladan copied and pasted from the suggestions thread
"This was an intended change. Having Northern Italy in the HRE would cause trouble for Venice and their rivalry wars (specially the Trade Wars against Genoa) because the Emperor would ALWAYS interfere. We attempted to just remove Genoa from the HRE, but this then cause the issue where Genoa was kind of stuck as everyone around them were in the HRE, and any attempts at expansion would, again, cause the Emperor to inerfere. So we removed NI from the HRE to allow for better gameplay in the area.
Also, while Northern Italy was technically in the HRE, they didn't really involve themselves in HRE politics that much. They were more or less HRE members in name only."
Still not agree with Golladan on the topic, but it's not my mod so I have to live with it and I can do that. This mod is terrific and that's only a minor problem. :)
Yeah, I know that. :) And it's the only reason EU IV is such a great game. :)
I'm just not happy with that change. :) But don't get me wrong: I love that mod. It's just that what you love you always try to protect. ;)
