NEW YORK CAMPAIGN - Part 1
Kyle's Review of "Aftermath: New York" - 3/5
A short, inconsistent experiment. 3/5 stars.

Aftermath: New York is heavily based on the game World War Z, and the borrowed assets really help it stand out. Each map captures the atmosphere of the Big Apple well, from the expansive skyline to the tiniest details — indoor areas are particularly impressive! The custom music and dialogue also enhance the unique vibe and ramp up the tension. Surprisingly, I think this is the first L4D2 campaign ever set in NYC, so I'm glad it delivers on the aesthetics.

Gameplay is a mixed bag, though. All three maps consist of a short walk to a horde event and little else, yet somehow they're still confusing. Boomers and Smokers have damage buffs and custom models, which is fine with me but may annoy others. The unique pseudo-scavenge finale is thrilling when it works, but event scripting and bot AI can both break at random. Performance, stability and general jankiness are also issues.

This mod is worth a try if you love NYC, but don't expect a smooth ride.
